Pillager's Pub

This is my attempt at winning free beer, I learn the results tomorrow! I rewarded the completion of this project by having a beer on a weeknight and watching 30 Rock.

Nest Head

My kitten nests in my hair every night, but I figured this made more sense.

The Controller Launch Party! Seattle!

If you are in the Seattle area tonight, you should come! My piece Make Us Whole Again will be there, along with a ton of other contributed art.

For those of you who don't know (WHAT?@!?!) The Controller is an awesome video game culture/arts magazine created by the awesome Cory Schmitz. He made another magazine a few months ago called EXP, another one I contributed to :D For more information, visit his website. He's a cool kid.

TACOS

Yesterday was National Taco Day. How did you celebrate?

The GIving Foot

I haven't been doing much art recently, besides that 30 day challenge that has been floating around. Maybe I'll post some of my favorites, but I don't think I'll be posting all of them.

So, since I haven't been doing much of my own art, I'll share my new foot art. I want to get a children's book sleeve some day, but I don't have the balls.

Thank You

This is a thank you card I designed to send to people who gave me graduation gifts. What? I graduated in May? OOPS. For once in my life, I've actually been pretty busy, and although I feel bad about sending these out so late... I have good excuses, I think.

I'm also going to send one to my vet. The people in the office are so sweet and caring, and they sent us a really lovely sympathy card. It wasn't just "hey sorry for your loss." It was personal. They had barely met our cat, but they knew him. Very nice.

SO ANYWAY. I'm supposed to leave early for work so I can get bus fare, yet here I am posting this for my LOYAL ELEVEN FOLLOWERS. This thank you card is FOR YOU.

Make Us Whole Again

This is for Cory Schmitz's new magazine, The Controller. It's super rad and I suggest you check out! I did a Katamari thing for his first magazine, and it was super cool! I think you guys should all check it out.

Anyway, I'm really proud of this, and so is my cat. As usual, it is 100% paper.

Isaac Clarke

I'm working on a Dead Space thing and it's really hard. The good news is his mask glows and it's SO COOL. The bad news is there is so much repetition and I haven't taken my Ritalin.

Tattoozles!

I've been obsessing over tattoos recently. That really isn't anything new, because I think tattoos are the coolest thing EVER, but I have been researching my next one. And, well, I had to draw a girl with cool tattoos. Wouldn't it be awesome to get something William Morris designed ON YOUR SKIN? Uughh I love his seaweed so much- that's what her left arm is. And then we have peacock feathers, because although peacocks scare the living daylights out of me, they are very lovely. And uummm the other arm is a ton of lace, jellyfish on her leg, and Stella on her other leg. Stella is my lovely skull lady I have had floating around for a few years.

So anyway, this will be colored in the near future.

My Crane Wife

WHO'S A BIG DECEMBERISTS FAN?

I also just like sad folktales about lovers never being able to see each other again.

Deer Born

She is named after Dearborn Ave in Seattle... just because. I actually consider her antlers to be branches, mainly because lady deer don't have antlers. I don't care! Gender equality UUUHHHH!!!

I Miss You is on sale and stuff!

"I am glad you told me that you had cancer and I am glad you answered all of the questions I asked. I didn’t feel like you were keeping secrets from me. You and mom let us be a part of everything. After you died, mom let us pick some of your books and pictures to keep. We like having some things around the house that make us think of you."

The book is written in the form of a letter from a little girl to her father who has passed away. This is a fairly common activity given to children to let their feelings go. The whole book was based on my experiences, mixed with my little sister's. This was entirely therapeutic for me, and hardly any of this made me sad at all. In fact, the idea that I might be able to help someone because of my own experiences makes me pretty much the happiest person on the face of the Earth!

This is what has been occupying my time for the last several months. I finally did it! The book will be shown at the BFA show tomorrow through May 22nd, and you can order your own copy from lulu.com in hardcover or paperback!

flowers flowers everywhere!

Here's another sneak peek of my thesis. I'm getting close to being done with all of the illustrations! I have five more to do. I can't thank the boyfriend enough for helping me cut all of the leaves on this one.

All's quiet...

I haven't been much arting and crafting lately. I've been working on this thing called a "thesis," but is often referred to as "I DON'T WANNA!" I love my thesis a lot, but sometimes I'd really like to work on something else. I'm making a children's book, about thirty spreads, of paper cut outs. I'm not entirely sure why I thought that was a good idea, but I'll just go with it. Here's a little preview:

I Miss You

I made this for my sister! She lives about five steps away from me in the same house, but I never see her. I was thinking of trying to make good prints and selling them as cards or something. I donno.

Shooting Star

Some day, I would like to get better photos of this. This is paper cut out, with lighting in the back. I need to find some lighting I can keep in it permanently! It would make one nifty night light.
